Expenditure Inequality Level of Central Sulawesi Population in September 2024

Abstract

  • In September 2024, the expenditure inequality level of Central Sulawesi's population, as measured by the Gini Ratio, was 0.309. This figure increased by 0.008 points compared to the Gini Ratio of March 2024, which was 0.301, and rose by 0.005 points compared to the Gini Ratio of March 2023, which was 0.304.
  • The Gini Ratio in urban areas in September 2024 remained unchanged at 0.340 compared to March 2024 but decreased compared to March 2023, when it was 0.344. In rural areas, the Gini Ratio in September 2024 was 0.271, an increase from 0.259 in March 2024 and 0.265 in March 2023.
  • In September 2024, the expenditure share of the bottom 40 percent of the population was 21.80 percent. This indicates that expenditure inequality is still classified as low, according to the World Bank’s classification. When broken down by region, the inequality levels in both urban and rural areas were categorized as low. In urban areas, the figure was recorded at 19.94 percent, while in rural areas, it was 23.48 percent.
